About the Institute
Our grandparents knew how to cook from scratch, make soap, grow food and fix the house. Most of us were never taught. This is where we learn it back.
Why it exists
Living costs too much. Groceries, cleaners, repairs and power all keep going up, and the big companies selling them aren't looking out for you. Their job is to sell you more.
The good news: a lot of it is easy to do yourself. Laundry powder is three ingredients. A pot of beans costs less than a can. A raised bed feeds you for months. Doing it yourself is cheaper, you know what's in it, and it can help you eat better.
The Institute has two parts. The library teaches the skills, plainly. My systems lets you turn them into your own plans and checklists, and share them if you want to. Both work with no service, because the times you need this most are often the times the network is down.
How it's paid for
Donations. That's it. No ads, no paywall, no sponsored posts and no tracking. We don't sell your data because we don't collect it: no analytics, no third-party scripts, and the only thing kept on your device is your login.
[placeholder: donation link, once you choose a donation service]. The Institute isn't a registered nonprofit, so donations aren't tax-deductible.
Who's behind it
[placeholder: your story. Who you are, why you started this, and what you've built yourself.]
Be careful, and tell us when we're wrong
Some of this is dangerous: lye burns, bad water makes people sick, and electricity kills. Every risky guide has a safety box and links the source it's based on. Read the safety page before you start. If you spot a mistake, tell us athello@homescience.institute.
